The National STEM Challenge is a secure, national digital platform for identifying and cultivating Nigeria's brightest secondary school students through rigorous annual assessments and competitions. We run a multi-week, multi-subject competition spanning Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology, built on a curriculum-mapped bank of thousands of questions. Students compete in weekly online challenges, climb live national, state and school leaderboards, and progress through qualification stages that culminate in a Top 50 Elite Computer-Based Test and a Top 20 National Finals. Alongside the individual contest, the platform hosts a Teams Innovation Challenge focused on AI in Edutech, encouraging collaborative problem-solving and real-world application of STEM skills.
The platform is designed for SS1 students across every state in Nigeria, their schools and coordinators, and the administrators who steward a fair, transparent competition. Every assessment is server-authoritative, integrity-monitored, and scored against configurable rules for accuracy, difficulty, speed and consistency — so rankings reflect genuine mastery, not luck or manipulation.
The National STEM Challenge is built and maintained by a dedicated team of educators, software engineers and competition administrators committed to expanding access to world-class STEM opportunities for every Nigerian student, regardless of geography or background.
The National STEM Challenge is organized and operated by Philipson Educational Initiative, an educational organization duly registered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
CAC registration establishes the organization's legal registration status. It does not constitute government endorsement, ministry approval, or sponsorship of the National STEM Challenge. The competition is independently organized by Philipson Educational Initiative.
